The past week has been a rollercoaster for me. There have been some really high peaks and some really low troughs, and I want to share it all with you. That's actually really weird for me to be saying - I'm a private person, and I don't generally like talking about things in my life. But I've also been talking to a lot of you, my friends, recently, and I value and appreciate your honesty. I think right now - in times of COVID - it's particularly important to be honest and genuine with one another. That can be really hard and really scary, because naming the things happening in our lives has a lot of power, but it's critical. When I was teaching, my kids will tell you that I did my best to "keep it a hundred" with them - getting real about having a rough day, or facing a tough time. The Positive: Summer Twilight pre-sales are almost here! One of the reasons this week has been so crazy is that I've been spending a lot of time getting ready for pre-sales. I've been building up to this moment for a long time, and it's crazy to think that it's almost here. There have been long hours spent working with my awesome publisher, New Degree Press, to make sure things are just right, so you can have the best experience possible. I've also been working with some friends to create some really unique reward funding tiers to share with you, to bring you into the world of Rosemoor Dell, as well as promote small artists. On Monday, when the pre-sale launches, I'm really excited to share with you what I've put together - and to hear your feedback! When I think about launching my pre-sale campaign, I'm simultaneously terrified and overwhelmed with excitement. Though times are tough for many of us - myself included - this book was written when my life was at its hardest, and helped me push through and conquer the unimaginable. In some ways, I think this timing is exactly what it should be, so Summer Twilight can help you the same way it helped me. More details - including specific backing tiers - will be available on Monday, when the pre-sale campaign goes live (omg, what???). I'm so looking forward to sharing it with all of you! The Tough: Life happensWhen I was teaching, I used to tell my kids all the time: sometimes, things aren't fair and they aren't okay. And it's okay to not be okay. I really try to be authentic to that idea and my personal challenges - sometimes, things are awesome. Other times, it can be rough. This week, I've been a ping pong. Working on my book has been incredibly rewarding, the culmination of thousands of hours work in a lot of ways. However, it's also been tough. I've been recovering from oral surgery and am currently rocking the pirate look, missing a front tooth. And I will be toothless through at least early December (though, as I joked with my surgeon, it's a great time for everyone to be wearing face masks). I've also had some friends and people I love dearly going through personally challenging or turbulent times, including some positive COVID tests. This pandemic has already touched all our lives, and will continue to for the coming months. For those of you who share this experience, of grappling with personal responsibility for public health, and supporting people who are ill, I want you to know I see and share your struggle. You are not alone. Finally, as always seems to happen, when it rains it pours. There have been a culmination of little things, building up: a nail in a tire, a heatwave, a stubbed toe, a problem at work. Those things that, on their own and in isolation, would be totally fine. But they never seem to happen when your life is running smoothly - your car only picks up a nail when you got two hours of sleep. This too shall passI don't want this to be a "boo-hoo, poor me" post, because it isn't. I'm fine, and I am incredibly lucky to be where I am in a job I love, about to share Summer Twilight with the best readers ever. But I do want it to be an honest post, which perhaps helps remind you that we all face challenges, and we all can - and do - overcome.
I believe in you. I've got your back. Let's get through it together. Comments are closed.
